PAYE calculator for 2026/27

Enter a monthly salary and see the PAYE to deduct, on the SARS tax tables for the year from 1 March 2026 to 28 February 2027.

Before any deductions. Rands; spaces and commas are fine.

Employee's age on the last day of the tax year

Older employees get extra rebates, so they start paying tax at a higher salary.

Nothing typed here leaves your browser. There is no submit button because there is nowhere for it to send anything.

PAYE is worked out on the year's income, not the month's: the salary is annualised, taxed on the SARS table, the rebates come off, and the result is divided by twelve. That is why a bonus month is taxed more heavily.

This is an estimate for a fixed salary. Medical aid tax credits, retirement fund contributions, travel allowances and other fringe benefits all change the figure, and UIF is deducted on top. A payroll system applies all of them every month.

Questions owners ask

How is PAYE calculated monthly?
Multiply the monthly salary by 12, apply the SARS tax table for the year, subtract the rebates for the employee's age, and divide the annual tax by 12. That is the PAYE to deduct each month.
At what salary do you start paying tax in 2026/27?
Under 65, from R99 000 a year, or R8 250 a month. From 65 the threshold is R153 250 a year, and from 75 it is R171 300.
What are the tax rebates for 2026/27?
R17 820 primary rebate for everyone, plus a secondary rebate of R9 765 from age 65 and a tertiary rebate of R3 249 from age 75.
