What a company's ESD obligation actually comes to
Enterprise and supplier development targets are set as a percentage of net profit after tax. A company that has published results has published the number its obligation is calculated from, which makes this arithmetic rather than research.
For a listed company this is in the results announcement. Rands, and spaces or commas are fine.
These are the generic scorecard defaults. A sector code can set them differently, so change them if a charter applies to the business you are looking at.
Enter a net profit after tax figure and the annual spend implied by each element appears here.
Nothing typed here leaves your browser. There is no submit button because there is nowhere for it to send anything.
The defaults are the generic scorecard. Sector codes set their own targets, and an EME or QSE is measured differently again, so treat this as the shape of the obligation rather than a compliance opinion about a specific business.
The number that matters in a conversation is usually not the target but the gap: what was budgeted against what was actually spent and evidenced. Beneficiaries have to be real, the spend has to be made, and a verification agency asks for proof of both.
More on the element itself on the enterprise and supplier development page, and the terms are defined in the glossary.
